Ever since our personal meeting with Claire Parsons in 2018 at the Luxembourg Jazz Meeting, we have been very much impressed by the radiant Luxembourgish-British singer, songwriter, and keyboardist. That admiration only deepens when she joins forces with Dutch-Israeli guitarist Eran Har Even, who, besides being an exceptional jazz player, is a true master of sound effects, sequencers, and sonic color. Add the endlessly imaginative drummer Ziv Ravitz to the mix, and you have a trio that seems to operate on its own artistic wavelength.
Their long-anticipated self-titled debut album, released in October 2025, is nothing short of a revelation: electronics x progjazz in optima forma, original, imaginative, and, without exaggeration, one of the best albums of the year, perhaps even of the decade. According to the liner notes, the trio blends “jazz, folk, and fusion into a rich, evocative landscape that feels both exploratory and effortlessly coherent, constructing an immersive sonic universe.” It’s all very true. Although there seem to be many overdubs, the music sounds lively and live, blending percussion, guitars, samples, and vocal layering into a soundscape that at times feels like a full orchestra: expansive and cinematic, broad and detailed; until it suddenly shifts into something dry, intimate, almost whispered. Lush, dynamic compositions bursting with color, layered with thought-provoking lyrics, and polished, razor-sharp production. These elements give the album its depth and ensure that each listen reveals new nuances.
This album stands as a testament to the trio’s remarkable synergy, bold imagination, and boundless creativity, revolving around the brilliant artistry of Claire Parsons, which shines at its core. She provides material that is both complex and accessible, a rare combination supported by an instinctive sense of shape and tension. In every sense, this debut marks the arrival of a trio with a singular artistic identity: fearless, forward-thinking, and impossible to ignore. Can’t wait to see and hear this live!
